Mom got out today! yay!

To all who have been praying for our family…

Mom got out this afternoon. her blood counts made a remarkable surge overnight. The doctors here are so good. I am amazed by all of the advances in medicine! It was a tough five days, especially for mom and dad, but they made it! Thank you all so much! Your thoughts and prayers have been carrying us!

Mom still in hospital

Mom is doing slightly better today. Her temp is lower, her blood pressure is closer to normal, as is her heart rate. Still has very low white blood counts. She received two units of blood today. The doctor is saying she may be in the hospital for 3-5 days :-(

Thank you for your continued prayers. Dad is hanging in there! Mom says thanks to everyone also.

Blessings, Michael

Unexpected Hospital Stay

Hi everyone! Mom came down with a high fever last night, and when she went in for her appointment today, the Dr. told her she needs to report this kind of stuff right away because she could die within 24 hours with a fever of this sort.

He immediately admitted her into the hospital witha 103 degree temp, and after testing her blood, found that she had almost NO white blood cells. Her white blood count was .5 This is the lowest it has ever been. I am here with her now, and she is also having mouth pain, and getting uncontrollable shakes. the nurses say this is part of the whole chemo thing. Again, it is tough to see mom suffering, and dad so worried and tired.

Thanks everyone in advance for your prayers. I will post an update tomorrow.

Blessdings, Michael

Update 12/6/2005

Hello everyone… sorry for the lack of updates.

We have learned alot these past few weeks. One of the biggest things we have learned is that this cancer battle is a marathon, and not a quick sprint. Mom has been feeling the weight of all of the shots, sickness, pain, dizziness, nausea, lack of sleep, round the clock medications, fatigue… and so much more.

Dad, has been a rock, but I notice he also is looking more tired.

We enjoyed a nice visit from Christine and family. It was great medicine for both mom and dad to have Nina and Aidan around.

We all feel blessed that mom has been weathering this storm well so far, but we also are worried that it seems like the combined effects of now four rounds of the chemo are definitely wearing on her and her body. You would all be proud of mom and dad though. Dad is a great caregiver, and mom never complains.

Mom, just finished up another 3 days and two nights at Sqwedish medical center. This visit wasn’t as good as the previous. We didn’t get a good night nurse either day, and then on the second day, they tried to put a woman with a 104 degree temp in moms room with her. Mms IV line kept closing on her, so she had to undergoe extra pokes.

Today her last day, she ended up throwing up quite a bit for the first time in this regimen. It is hard to explain what it is like to watch someone suffer that you love so much, and not to be able to do anything about it.

Thank you again for all of your prayer and support.

PS: About the guestbook, thanks for the posts. We know that there have been several random posts from other websites trying to drive traffic to theirs. We are trying to fix this.

God Bless,

Michael

Mom had a tough week during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
