April
Hello everyone. It has been a long time since I have been able to update the site. I apologize to those who have loyally kept checking back for updates. Overall things have been good. Life has resumed. Work has become a priority once again, now that mom has completed her treatments, and she and dad have traveled back to Arizona.
It was pretty hectic for them getting out of Seattle, back to Tacoma, and then after one night, heading down to phoenix to meet up with the best man from their wedding.
They were able to spend time with Barry and his wife in the Sedona area of Arizona. It was actually pretty tough on mom. Christine and I both felt that they rushed it a bit, but mom really wanted dad to get a break.
Mom’s first test down in Arizona was disappointing to all of us. They found two hot spots, which may be the cancers spreading… the problem is that after consulting with the doctor, they call the reults inconclusive. This means they need to repeat the tests, but since it is so expensive, insurance only allows it once every three months. Mom will be repeating this test soon.
Meanwhile, we found out that my dads mom, my grandmother, has stage 2 breast cancer. She will be having a mastectomy on April 17th. Please keep her and her medical team in your prayers as well.
Mom and dad do sound like they are in better spirits. I believe that every day, both of them become stronger physically and emotionally.
My friend Erica, whose mom has a terminal brain tumor, has become a full time caregiver, along with the rest of her family. I fear that her mom, Teresa, or Big T as I affectionately call her, does not have much time left. We have become very close over the past 12 months, and it is very difficult to watch her suffer.
Through her suffering, it is so amazing what a peaceful and relxing place her home is. I beieve that God has really blessed the family with the grace to deal with this challenge they have been given.
Please keep them in your prayers. My cousins Alan’s wife Leny, just passed away from cancer last Friday. I was saddened and shocked when I found out.
On a good note, Grandma’s surgery (mastectomy) went well today. Thanks to all who have been praying for her.
I am currently in California visiting with family, and mom and dad. It is nice to see mom up and moving better, and dad more relaxed. Mom’s hair is even growing back. She looks so cute walking around with her laptop
God Bless everyone!
