Coming together in support for Cora Fort and family

a really bad day

We met with Dr G at 3:30pm. he asked how mom was feeling. Right away I knew it was going to be bad news. When the test is good, he tells us right away. When the test is bad he asks how mom is feeling.

He said the hoarseness in her voice could be from the tumors in her lungs causing paralysis of the vocal cords because they have started to affect the nerves.

The news was this: the cancer is still spreading. Some of the tumors have begun to grow, and there are substantially more in the liver Not a good situation.

We are all pretty upset…mom especially.

Dr. G has recommended a new protocol consisting of Cytoxan and Adriomycin. Mom is interested in pursuing a new drug called Avastin, but it will not be covered by insurance.

We are gathering tonight in Seattle to support mom and sit with this new bad news. thank you for your love and prayers. Cora, Fort, Michael, Christine, Paul, Nina and Aidan

A really good day…or a really bad one

Today will be either a really good day… or a really bad one.

I called mom last night, and she was crying. Her PETSCAN is today. Today we will find out if the treatments have been helping.

Mom’s PETSCAN is at 9am, and then we meet with the Doctor at 2:15pm.

I am hoping for a really good day for mom and dad. She deserves some good news.

Thank you in advance for all of your prayers!

Fatigue set in

Hello everyone.

I apologize yet again for the lackof updates. I know some of you have been worried.

Mom is doing well.

About three weeks ago, I was trying to upload photos from moms trip to the grotto, and I also wrote a long post about how amazing the trip was, and about the great fellowship. it took me about an hour, and it was about 2am, and I ended up losing both the pictures, and the post.

I had reached my “point”. I no longer had the energy to drive to Seattle back and forth everyday, manage my business, work at my other job, and also try and keep up the posts on the website. In the little spare time I had, I just wanted to be with mom and dad.\Between then and now, we have had visits from out of towners three times, in addition to Dr’s appointments, etc.

Mom loves the visits…she finds them very life giving. Since my last post,I have coordinated over 27 weddings, from Bellingham to Monroe, to Snoqualmie, to Port Orchard, to Olympia, and allpoints in between.

This last week, we all got a break because mom was off chemo, since Dr. G felt it was wearing her down too much. So Christine went home with the kids to California, and I stayed at my house and mom and dad had a second honeymoon.

I was able to rejuvinate and recharge the batteries a bit.

Mom is at a very key point in her treatment. next Tuesday August 22,mom is having her PETSCAN to see how effective the chemohas been.

Needless to say,we are all hoping for the best, and that moms test will show that the lesions have been affected and are being killed by the CPT11 and Cisplatin. If the treatment has been successful, then mom will continue for another 9 MONTHS.

Thank you for your prayers, concern, energy, and love… combined, it is what is carrying all of us, and most importantly mom and dad.

Love,michael
